Your Hospital Bag Must Haves
After some great responses to the Midwife recommendations post (here) you asked me to post more recommendations from other Kiwi Families about such a wide range of topics. So I have decided to turn this into a series of posts where I ask you for your recommendations and give the answers here. I hope this will become yet another valuable resource in your pregnancy, after birth or just simply in your journey as a parent.
Hospital Bag Must Haves - I am an absolute rookie at this and spend hours on Pinterest so when I get messages asking me for my suggestions I point them that way, but there has to be NZ specific suggestions that are relevant to you all, right? Well the outcomes of that question are below & I hope this helps you when packing to meet your new arrival.
Face care products
Adult Nappies / Large Pads
Black underwear (bigger than your usual! & more than you think you’ll need)
Comfortable loose clothing
Eye mask / Sleep mask (lights in the room that won’t turn off don’t help with rest)
Breast Pads (Hydrogel)
Bottle to squirt on tender perineum areas (add a cap of hypercal was a highly recommended option)
Sports bra or something you can wear if in water
Breastfeeding Singlets (it can be hot in the Maternity Ward)
Button up pajamas
Long charger lead (it’s likely there won’t be a charger point for your phone close enough)
Snacks (for you and birth partner)
Your own pillowcase / pillow
Wheatbag or Hot Water Bottle (for after pains)
This list was collated through Instagram responses and is of course personal preference, I hope it gives you some ideas of what might be helpful in preparing for your labour and birth.
